Karen Powell Appointed to Help Take VetFran and Operation Enduring Opportunity Initiatives to the Next Level

SOUTHBURY, Conn. (September 26, 2012) – Franchise Source Brands International™ (FSBI) announced today that Karen Powell, it’s Chief Relationship Officer and the founder & CEO of its Decor&You® brand, has been appointed to the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) VetFran Committee.

As a member of the committee, Powell will take an official leadership role in the VetFran strategic initiative and Operation Enduring Opportunity, the franchise industry’s campaign to help 75,000 veterans and military spouses, plus 5,000 wounded warriors, launch careers in franchising. Since implemented, more than 15,000 veterans have started careers in franchising, including over 4,200 franchise business owners.

“Karen is a distinguished industry leader who has been at the forefront of this important campaign through Decor&You, The Entrepreneur’s Source®, and FSBI’s other brands,” said Beth Solomon, IFA Vice President, Strategic Initiatives & Industry Relations. “With her passion for veterans and franchising, she will help take VetFran to the next level, which is good for our industry, our economy and our nation.”

In early December, Powell will represent VetFran in speaking to the New England Franchise Association.

“Whether as an employee or a business owner, a career in franchising is a viable opportunity for today’s military veterans,” said Powell. “The IFA’s VetFran program is a major industry initiative that helps veterans access training, financial assistance and more. It’s a crucial program for not only the franchise industry but also the economy, and I’m so honored to be a part of its committee.”
