Salon Grand Opening to Support EJ Autism Foundation
East Northport, NY (Jan. 23, 2013) – Snip-its (www.snipits.com), one of the country's fastest-growing chains of children's hair salons is opening in East Northport's Elwood Shopping Center on Jan. 26, 2013. Owned by local mom Munisha Chadha, Snip-its East Northport will offer haircuts and styles; birthday parties; spa services, including mini facials, manicures and pedicures; children's entertainment; prizes; kid-friendly hair care products; accessories; specialty toys; and more. The grand opening will take place from Saturday, Jan. 26 - Sunday, Jan. 27. Face painting, arts and crafts, and other special activities and treats will be provided for the kids. Snip-its East Northport will be open Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Councilman Mark Cuthbertson will be onsite to perform a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
As part of its grand opening, Snip-its East Northport will donate 20% of its proceeds to the EJ Autism Foundation (www.ejautismfoundation.org), an organization that aims to increase autism awareness and raise funds for programs that work with children on the spectrum in Long Island, NY. All of Snip-its’ stylists are certified to work with children with autism and special needs. Snip-its also offers a haircutting guide for parents of children with autism and other special needs to help prepare kids for the salon experience.
First launched in 1995 by founder Joanna Meiseles, Snip-its has since been revolutionizing the hair care industry by creating a branded entertainment concept designed to untangle the hair-care challenges of children. Currently, Snip-its has approximately 65 locations in 26 U.S. states. The East Northport salon will be the first Snip-its in Long Island, and one of six franchises in New York.
With life-sized characters, music and games, Snip-its has turned what was once a tedious chore into an amazing adventure, filled with fun, games and excitement. Upon entering the salon, parents and children step into a magical cartoon world of adventure characterized by floor-to-ceiling cartoon murals and splashy vibrant colors. In the waiting area, they can enjoy the Snip-its show, featuring a whimsical cast of cartoon characters; play with toys; or browse the retail space filled with selections of natural hair care products, specialty toys and gifts, and hair and fashion accessories. Each cutting station includes a special chair for parents to sit close at hand, and an entertainment station featuring custom computer games and activities for the little ones. Upon completion of the haircut, children insert a lock of hair into the 'Snip-its Magic Box' for a prize.
