Sport Clips Haircuts receives 'Fastest Growing Award' from The Institute for Family Business at Baylor University
GEORGETOWN, Texas (Nov. 14, 2017)
Sport Clips Haircuts is the 'Fastest Growing' among businesses recognized by The Institute for Family Business at Baylor University. The 28th annual 2017 Texas Family Business of the Year Awards recently recognized 'outstanding firms who demonstrate a commitment to business continuity while serving their employees, community and industry.'
'Sport Clips Haircuts began here in Texas with my family 25 years ago. We're grateful to the other families and individuals who've come alongside us as franchisees and team members to make more than 1,700 locally-owned stores the place to go for a great haircut,' says Gordon Logan, founder and CEO of Sport Clips. 'More than 100 stores are opening in the U.S. and Canada each year, and we look forward to that growth continuing to provide new opportunities for franchisees, stylists and even more locations for an MVP haircare experience.'
Sport Clips opened in June 1993 in Austin and made the decision to franchise in 1995. The first investor in the brand was an Austin-area businessman who bought six licenses, a great boost to the franchise’s beginnings. From Austin, Sport Clips expanded to Houston, Dallas, and to help keep travel expenses at a minimum, based its further expansion plans on “where Southwest Airlines flew.” It took five years to open the first 50 stores. By 2007, Sport Clips celebrated the opening of its 400th and 500th store in the same year. In 2012, the franchise expanded into Canada. By 2015, Sport Clips had a presence in all 50 states with an opening in Maine and a year later, celebrated the opening of its 1,500th and 1,600thstores in 2016. The brand continues to grow with 1,700+ locations and is the career choice of more than 17,000 professionals.
