Weed Man USA Announces Its Largest Ever Franchise Deal; Plants New Roots in Houston

Lawn Care Giant to Serve 22 Territories in the Local Market

HOUSTON – Continuing its rapid U.S. expansion, Weed Man USA, North America’s fastest-growing lawn care franchise, announces its newest opening Houston. The expansion of Weed Man into the local market marks the company’s largest ever franchise sold to date.

The new franchise in Houston is part of the lawn care giant’s long-term plan for aggressive growth in the U.S. With homeowners spending $40 billion annually on their lawns, Weed Man USA provides customers a comprehensive and environmentally responsible lawn care service that includes fertilization, weed control and integrated pest management.

Leading the local expansion into 22 territories in the greater Houston area is Dan Carrothers. Prior to joining Weed Man USA, Carrothers served as the Marketing Manager for BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, where he was responsible for managing the overall marketing efforts for the termite, general insect, turf and ornamental business of the company’s U.S. division. Carrothers also led the Pest Control business for BASF in St Louis and also has experience as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for DATACORE Marketing LLC, where he was responsible for managing all day-to-day operations, new business development and overseeing the processes for hiring, training, and retaining employees as a member of the senior management team. Prior to his role at BASF and DATACORE, he led the turf and ornamental business for Bayer Environmental Science.

“It is an honor to join the Weed Man franchise system and be a part of a company that has garnered a positive reputation in communities across the country over the past 18 years,” said Carrothers. “Homeowners are busy and value their free time. They want to enjoy their lawns with their families, not worry about yard work. I am confident that local residents will embrace our services, as well as our commitment to customers and the environment.”

For more than 40 years Weed Man has been dedicated to creating greener and healthier lawns. A healthy lawn generates oxygen, removes carbon dioxide, reduces noise and temperatures, filters out ground water pollutants, increases property values, and reduces the vulnerability of homes to infestations and disease carried by insects and rodents. Additionally, implementing a basic service like lawn care can help reduce Houston’s carbon footprint.

In addition to being a Weed Man franchisee, Carrothers is also part of a brand new joint venture, Turf Operations Houston, LLC, with Weed Man's CEO Roger Mongeon, COO Jennifer Lemcke, and other key industry professionals.

'We are absolutely ecstatic that Dan has decided to join Weed Man USA, and in a very unique way,' said Lemcke. 'This is the first time we've done this, which goes to show how we believe in Dan.'

With more than 360 territories across the United States, Weed Man USA plans to add 56 total new territories this year. Furthermore, with sales topping at approximately $63 million in 2013, the company is projected to reach $75 million in sales this year. Weed Man USA is also expected to experience a customer net growth increase of 43,434.
