Our History

In 1972, Antonio Martella opened the first Captain Tony's Pizza & Pasta Emporium in the fine state of New York.


The entire family pitched in and helped, including his young son Michael. Grown up and away at college, Michael found that old adage to be true that you just can't beat home cooking, dad's pizza that is. In all of his travels at that time, sampling a variety of pizzas in several states across the country, he was not able to find a pizza that rivaled his own father's. His cousin (also named Michael) also agreed and the family decided to share this great pizza with the world by expanding into a franchise in 1985.

From that day on, grateful tastebuds coast to coast in the U.S.A. and also in Europe were able to experience first–hand the crispy, brick oven pizza that Antonio Martella served to his family and to New York for so long.

Captain Tony's Pizza and Pasta Emporium is leading the way in pizza franchises. Our restaurant specializes in dine-in, take-out, and delivery of mouth-watering gourmet pizzas, operating from a minimum amount of space. Captain Tony's Pizza has been ranked over the years as the very best in the entire Rochester, New York area. Our pizza is offered to our customers in the "Anyway you want it" system, allowing them to eat a pizza the way they want it, choosing from a variety of pizza toppings and combinations.

The Captain Tony's franchise fee for a unit is:

  • US$10,000 take-out and delivery
  • US$15,000 for take-out and delivery, self-serve under 49 seats
  • US$20,000 for take-out and delivery, full-serve, dine-in for 50 seats and up.

Royalties are 4.5% for 0-20yrs. Maximum royalty is limited to US$500.00 per week

Equipment costs are low and leasehold improvements will vary depending on whether you have a full service, dine-in restaurant
