FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—Minuteman Press International is finding the Long Island region to be fertile ground for design, marketing, and printing franchise success in 2017. Total sales volume for the region has increased 18% for the region in the first quarter of 2017. This sales growth comes off the heels of a productive year in 2016, where ten franchisees across the region achieved record sales as Minuteman Press franchise owners. The Long Island region encompasses Nassau County, Suffolk County, Queens, and Brooklyn.
'Minuteman Press has a rich history in Long Island and we are thrilled to report tremendous sales growth for the Long Island region in particular,' says Bob Titus, Minuteman Press International President and CEO. He adds, 'I started Minuteman Press with my father Roy Titus in Plainview in 1973. 44 years later, and with over 950 franchises around the world, Long Island remains our home. It is great to see continued success and growth right here in the region.'
Brian Sisti is Minuteman Press International Area Manager for Long Island. Brian says, 'The positive sales growth we have experienced in the Long Island region is a huge credit to the hard work of our owners that are closely following the Minuteman Press franchise system. Many of these owners have taken over locations that had been in operation for over 20 years including some that were in business for over 35 years. We pride ourselves on offering the highest levels of quality and personalized service. Combine that with all of the new products and services we offer to clients as well as our Internet Marketing Program and it gives us the opportunity to build faster and reach more potential customers than ever before.'
Long Island Sales Growth
In addition to 18% sales growth region-wide for Q1 2017, ten Minuteman Press franchise owners had their best sales year in 2016. They are owners who have been in business as recently as three years and as along as 32 years. Below are snapshots of several of these owners who achieved such growth:
Michael Levy, Levittown, NY: Michael Levy has owned Minuteman Press in Levittown since November 2013. Prior to franchising with Minuteman Press, he owned other small businesses and did business consulting. Michael took over the established business from retiring owners Steve Haller and Charlie Kick, who ran the business for 35 years. Michael has expanded his products and services for clients with a broader range of promotional items, signs, and in-house large format printing. In April 2017, Michael finalized the acquisition of local independent printing business, which further expanded his capabilities for customers. Michael has been married to his wife Gwen for 28 years and has three children Melanie, Ryan, and Allison. His center is located at 3000 Hempstead Turnpike, Suite 114, Levittown, NY 11756. Steve Blustein, Melville, NY: Steve Blustein bought an existing Minuteman Press franchise in Melville in July 2012. The Melville location is one of the longest-running Minuteman Press franchises in the entire system. To better serve his customers, Steve and his team recently relocated the business to their brand new facility at 600A Walt Whitman Road, which has high visibility right on Route 110 in Melville, NY. Steve has also taken full advantage of Minuteman Press International's rebranding by upgrading his business image, signage, and graphics. These upgrades make Steve's new facility stand out with modern imaging and messaging that reflects Minuteman Press' position as the modern printing industry. George Dormani, Rockville Centre, NY: George Dormani has owned his Minuteman Press business located at 488-A Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre since April 1999. Before finding his way to Minuteman Press, George graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College. When he couldn't find a job in the automotive field, he became a press operator for the Minuteman Press center he now owns. His children are also involved in the family business. George says, 'From when we first started all those years ago through to today, Minuteman Press International has given us tremendous support. Their mass purchasing power allows them to negotiate vendor deals that give us an edge above the competition. The Minuteman Press home office and regional support staff has knowledge of the industry that is unmatched. They are truly experts when it comes to technology, equipment, vendors, and how to provide the support we need to remain on top of our game.' George is a member of the Minuteman Press International President's Million-Dollar Club. For more information, visit www.mmprvc.com
Scott Levine, Bellerose, Queens, NY: Scott Levine is a veteran of the Minuteman Press franchise system. Before buying the established business in Bellerose from a retiring owner in 1985, Scott was actually a customer of Minuteman Press. Scott says, 'Prior to owning my business, I worked for an organization that built and managed spas, fitness centers, recreation centers, swimming pools, and country clubs. I was responsible for 20-plus locations and over 150 employees, plus I was the onsite manager for one of the clubs. Needless to say, I worked long hours, weekends, and holidays and was looking for a change plus the benefits of owning my own business.'
Over 32 years later, Scott Levine's design, marketing, and printing business is still going strong. More than just a printer, Scott is a business solutions provider. He says, 'I was Google before Google was invented. I have a reputation as the go to guy when people don't know. I enjoy figuring out how to solve problems.' It is Scott's determination that has propelled him into the Minuteman Press International President's Million-Dollar Club, and why he was able to have his best sales year in 2016. Wayne Herman, Brooklyn, NY: Wayne Herman's Minuteman Press franchise is located in the heart of Brooklyn at 305 Atlantic Avenue. Before opening his business in 2008, Wayne worked in the finance industry for Citibank. Despite the recession that affected so much of the corporate world especially in New York City, Wayne was able to start his business in Brooklyn and thrive in the face of it all. Nine years later, Wayne has joined the Minuteman Press International President's Million-Dollar Club and has achieved his best sales year to date in 2016. Wayne has also received awards from Minuteman Press International for Top Quality and Top Customer Service, and he has built a stellar reputation with his clients for the high levels of quality and service he provides to them.
Why Minuteman Press? Wayne says, 'When I saw the reasonable startup costs for Minuteman Press and the help and ongoing support that the franchise offered to new owners, I thought this was a good idea.' Wayne also cites the 'high brand recognition of the Minuteman Press name' as a huge reason he is able to acquire new customers in Brooklyn. He then is able to retain a high percentage of clients by producing quality work and making deliveries on time all across the five boroughs. Jim Hill, Vice President for Minuteman Press International, also provides advice and support to Minuteman Press owners in the Long Island region. Jim says, 'Time and again, the Long Island region has proven to be a solid market for Minuteman Press franchise owners who follow the program. We look forward to continuing to support our owners in the region as we strive to help them grow their sales even further.'
Internet Marketing Program
In addition to providing full training and ongoing local support, Minuteman Press International also offers an Internet Marketing Program to franchise owners. Wayne Herman was an early adopter of this program as soon as it was made available because he sees the value in getting potential customers' attention online and converting them into clients. 'I would say the Minuteman Press Internet Marketing Program has helped me double my business since its introduction. I do 50% of by business in Manhattan, so the program helps me advertise in those areas where door to door marketing isn't practical for numerous reasons.' Royalty Incentive Program
One of the unique benefits of owning a Minuteman Press franchise is the Royalty Incentive Program that actually caps royalties above a monthly sales level. This means that eligible owners are able to save more once they reach the monthly sales level and reinvest those savings into their business as they see fit.
