Teriyaki Madness Franchise Brings Fresh Asian Twist to Fast-Casual Segment in Southern California

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – As consumers continue their search for alternatives to the typical fast-food burgers and sandwiches, Teriyaki Madness is looking to feed their appetite and bring its fresh, Asian-inspired dishes to Southern California through four franchise agreements which will result in the opening of seven locations in Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange County, and Pasadena.

Spearheading the regional franchise development in Southern California, Teriyaki Madness welcomes:

  • Ed DeRosa, who signed an agreement with Teriyaki Madness to open Los Angeles’ first two restaurants, with the first expected to open in early 2014.
  • Mario Essary, who signed a franchise agreement for one Teriyaki Madness location in Los Angeles (Sylmar), Calif. with the intention of opening more in the future.
  • Russ Thyret signed a franchise agreement to bring three Teriyaki Madness locations to the Southern California-area, with a specific target area of Pasadena.
  • Waleed Nassar, opening one franchise location in Orange County, Calif.

“As the number of consumers eager to try something novel continues to grow, we are in great position to be the leader of the Asian fast casual segment and be a central player in a new era of mainstream dining coast-to-coast,” said Rod Arreola, Co-Founder and President of Teriyaki Madness, noting a recent report by The NPD Group stating 23 percent of consumers are interested in more Asian-type flavored foods.

In fact, another study by Technomic, a research and consulting firm servicing the food and foodservice industry, reports that Asian remains one of the fastest-growing categories in both full-service and limited service restaurants in the United States, bringing in more than $18 billion annually.

“As the ethnic population in the United States continues to grow, so does the popularity of ethnic foods and cuisines. Teriyaki Madness is a fresh, new concept, and that’s what really excites us. And the menu is fantastic and Southern California is going to love it,” said Los Angeles franchisee, Ed DeRosa.

In less than four months, Teriyaki Madness has signed franchise agreements that will result in more than 20 new locations. The local expansion initiative comes as the Las Vegas-based chain seeks to expand its footprint throughout the Southwestern states – including Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Texas and Utah – with more than 50 new restaurants by the end of 2016.

Equipped with a new prototype featuring a dine-in model and a user-friendly menu, Teriyaki Madness offers an alternative to traditional quick-service meals, serving such dishes as beef teriyaki and spicy chicken, featuring made-from-scratch sauces and a secret blend of spices. The average ticket price for lunch ranges from $10-$12, while dinner is around $13.
