The World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA), one of the nation’s largest adult social sports organizations, recently announced it has awarded a franchise to James Speegle and Andy Lane of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Speegle and Lane’s territory consists of existing WAKA Kickball leagues and a newly created WAKA Dodgeball league, as well as future leagues in the OKC area.

Several WAKA Kickball leagues in Oklahoma City kickball leagues, including OK Capital and OK Bricktown, are registering players now for the spring seasons which will kick off as early as March.  In addition, Oklahoma City will soon be starting an adult co-ed dodgeball league, OK City Dodgeball.

“When I found out I could parlay my love of adult kickball into a full-time career through WAKA Kickball’s franchise program a few months ago, I jumped at the chance,” said Speegle. “This is the first time professionally I am doing what I really love.”

Launched in 2011, WAKA’s franchise program leverages the organization’s nearly 15 years of success bringing fun and happiness to hundreds of thousands of kickball players across the country and offers one of the most exciting and affordable franchises in the marketplace.

Franchisees come to WAKA from many different backgrounds. For Speegle, he is a member of the military turned civilian and played WAKA Kickball while living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After moving to Oklahoma City a few years ago and finding there wasn’t an adult kickball league that offered the same fun, games and social benefits that he enjoyed so much with WAKA, he contacted them and helped to found the organization’s first leagues in Oklahoma City. After learning about WAKA's new franchise program, James partnered with fellow player Lane to invest in one.

“James and Andy are experienced business professionals and long time WAKA Kickball players,” said Johnny LeHane, co-founder of WAKA and head of the company’s franchise efforts. “We are excited to welcome them both as co-franchisees into the program and know that with their combined experience and knowledge of the market, they are well on their way to taking adult kickball to the next level in their market.”

WAKA’s franchise program leverages the organization’s nearly 15 years of success bringing fun and happiness to hundreds of thousands of kickball players across the country and offers one of the most exciting and affordable franchises in the marketplace. WAKA also recently launched its Franchise Referral Program, which awards $2,000 to those that refer a new owner/operator to WAKA through the program.

WAKA is currently qualifying franchise candidates in markets across the country. Franchise owners will be a part of a new lifestyle business as they enjoy working in their home office and heading to the local kickball field, rather than working in a cubicle. A WAKA franchise will allow driven entrepreneurs to combine their independent work ethic with all of the tools, support and training needed to build exciting leagues throughout their market. Franchises will be granted for metropolitan areas for fees ranging from $25,000 to $90,000+.

In 1998, a group of friends looking for a way to meet other young adults in the Washington D.C. area, started the first known adult kickball league. Nearly 15 years later, with corporate leagues in 35 states and more than 400 communities across the nation, WAKA has been named one of Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing private companies in America for the past two years and is recognized as the nation’s premier kickball organization.

Offering face-to-face interaction not easily found anywhere else, WAKA not only provides a recreation and social outlet for its players but gives them the opportunity for personal development through leadership, volunteerism and charity. The organization produces thousands of meaningful connections between people each year, including marriages, business partnerships and lasting friendships.

WAKA hosts the World Kickball Championship® Weekend in Las Vegas, the largest organized kickball tournament, played annually over Columbus Day Weekend.
